August 13

I have to admit - sometimes I really wonder why in the world I waste my time blogging this.  It's a log of my days, and it gives me something to look back on - but I don't put much time or effort into it, and if it weren't my own I don't think I would have any interest. I don't expect anyone to look at it, and would really be surprised if any one really did.  I'm not gonna wax all boring and philosophical here - but I am so relieved that  I finally found a good use for my blogging.  It actually came in handy.  My sister Becky has been pretty sick, and so I drove up late one night (got there at midnight) - and spent the night with her in the hospital.  It is nigh impossible to sleep at hospitals - but whenever Becky found a way to snooze I pulled out my trusty laptop and decided to blog a little.  In the middle of the night haze - I commented on the most mundane thing - my family had been frequenting the Quiznos in SLC.  I had to drive back home the next day at noon so I could play for the HMS Pinafore show.  On the way home we got a phone call.  My sister Sarah in Oregon saw on national news that there was a Hepatitis A outbreak - at a downtown SLC Quiznos shop.  Anyone who ate there one of three days was supposed to get the vaccine.  Well...lo and behold -  we had ALL eaten there on August 6th - one of the three days.  I almost religiously read the news - but in the haze of sleeplessness I never would have seen this story.   My boring blogging saved us! (That and my sick sister stuck in the hospital - and my other sister who randomly decided to check my blog and listen to the news.)  It turned out that as soon as I got home - I had to try to find someone to give me the shot.  I had two hours before my show started.  If I didn't get it that night, it wouldn't be effective.  The time crunch was on.  It turned out the boys have both had the vaccine, since it is routine now - and Eric has had it since he left the country.  That left me - the lucky winner of the vaccine prize.  I have no primary care doctor - so I had to go to an instacare.  I told them I had an hour before I had to be in SLC sitting at a piano - and they needed to go and get me my shot!  So - they complied.  They were fantastic.  They delivered it to me in my gluteus maximus.  They said I was so petite that it would hurt less - that and the fact if they put it in my arm it would be stiff and sore - not a good thing when you have to go and play the piano for a couple of hours straight.  Anyhow - crisis has been averted.  I have the shot - (I get two more doses later on) - and all is well.  I have made sure that the cast of the Pinafore knows just how much I love them - enough to take a shot for them all - in the rump.   That probably wasn't the most ladylike thing I have ever said, so please don't quote me.  I suppose I've just entered into the abyss of the blogosphere - but I should be a little more careful because apparently someone reads this sometimes and that is a good thing.....it managed to save my life....or at least give me a stiff bottom for a while.....

August 12

Here are some more HMS Pinafore pictures.  These have become my crazy friends that keep me company three nights a week.  Eric and the boys have come to watch, and they have driven me down a few times and we have become regular customers at Quiznos.  We love the free kids meals with entree purchase at Quiznos, and we have made some fun family memories by doing this, too!

August 11

This is a picture fail.  It was supposed to be a great quote I read on a park bench downtown.....so glad that we can see what was written, and even more exciting that I can't remember just exactly everything it said.

August 11

Okay - here is a plug for my latest show:  HMS Pinafore at the Off Broadway Theater on Main in Salt Lake City.  I've been having so much fun - any locals - you can mention my name at the box office for half price tickets.

August 10

This is a sandcastle they were building at the fair. Yes another fair picture - but not to worry, this is the last one. I haven't taken very many pictures as of late, and now I am going to be scrambling to somehow find 10 pictures for the next 10 days that I have miserably forgotten.
We were going to go to the Davis County Fair, but I think our plans have been foiled.   I had to teach piano on Wednesday, and Thursday when I planned to go - it rained/poured/thundered/flashed lightning.   We made it to the car from a store before the boys were complaining so miserably about getting wet, I decided I better not chance it.  Today, I am sitting in the hospital with my amazing older sister Becky who is very sick....so I don't think I will make it this year.  I am enjoying some family time, though.  Get well soon Becky!!!!!

August 9

It's that time of year again....fair time.  So far we've only made it out to the Weber County Fair.  David ad a grand time miniature golfing with his upside down sunglasses.  He made a whole in 8!  It is always an interesting experience taking the kids to the fair.  David is fascinated by the hogs and cows - but Cade is bored to tears by the animals.  Cade loves the prize wheels and games and David just loves to chow down on the candy.

August 8

The display for August.  I finally decided to take down the 4th of July stuff.  These are pics Uncle Zach took of the boys (love them!)  I found some seashells in the basement and a dollar store vinyl enjoy sign.  I picked up some easels for a few pennies at a garage sale later on, and decided to prop the picutres up.  I'm really glad that there is only one prominent decorating nook in my house that I feel compelled to actually decorate.  I think that just changing it every month or two wears out all of my creative juices.  Sad, but true.

August 7

It has been a little cooler, and so we have been utilizing those rare days when it isn't too hot or too cold to take some short walks.  I found two pairs of Toy Story Sunglasses on clearance for the boys.  David insists on wearing his upside down.  It's a battle I have decided not to fight, even if it means every person we pass points his fashion statement out...."Did you know his glasses are on upside down?"   I will answer you all now....."Yes.  Why yes I do."

August 6

WARNING:  Contruction Rant in Process.  Proceed with Caution.
I am sick of the perpetual construction.  This is what I have been driving through for months now.  They are going to lift a bridge or something up on hydraulics any day now.....so I thought I'd snap some before and after pictures.  I get honked at a lot as I drive through these 55 miles per hour zones at 57.....Grrr. ....Don't people know how unsafe it is to speed?  (Or take pictures in a car while driving?)  I guess we all do some stupid things sometimes.

August 5

We had a fun visit with Andrea who is one of Eric's little sisters.  She came down from USU and spent the night.  She brought a fun friend and we headed to Salt Lake together. I've been playing for a show on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays.  I drove down with Andrea and her friend and we marched through Gallivan Park (how have I lived so close to such a fun place for sooooo many years and never stepped foot in there??????)  Andrea did a great job laughing at the show.  It was kind of fun she sat right behind me so I could even confirm her laughter.  I'm so glad she came to visit - especially because she pointed out the checkered tables on Main Street in SLC.  I've walked past them a zillion times and never noticed them.  Thanks Andrea for helping out Captain Oblivious here enjoy yet another fun man made creation I overlooked!

August 4

Eric just threatened to hack into my blog and post a picture, only he couldn't think of what picture to post.  So....I'm going to hack into my own account and post my own crazy picture before he does.  So....here it is.  (This is from our anniversary date. I think we are a charming couple.)

August 3

Happy Anniversary to us!  We celebrated our ninth anniversary on August 3rd.  We went to the local Sparetime Family Fun Center and for three hours we bowled, played laser tag (that is what we did on our first date) - and had a great time sans kids.  I think we bowled four or five games and we kept getting better each time.  I started out bowling a 50?!! and our final game was Eric 101 - Debby 100.  We decided to stop there on a high note.  It is always wonderful just spending time having fun with Eric.  It was a simple way to celebrate, but we both really enjoyed ourselves and each other, and that is what being married is all about.

August 2

I am totally spoiled.  I dropped the van off for a TON of car repairs that put me in a crummy mood.  When Eric came to pick me up - he had left lillies on my seat.  Our 9th anniversary was on August 3rd - and he wanted to make sure that I had my flowers to enjoy for the whole anniversary day the next day.  I know that flowers just die, but I am your classic sappy girl- give me some flowers and watch me smile a mile. We've had a great nine years of marriage.  The most amazing part to me?  He is still my best friend.  He has been my friend for almost ten years now!!!!!  I KNEW I married a crazy man, and the longer he stays married to me the more convinced I am of his compromised mental faculties.  I'm glad he's crazy, though ......because normal people are just boring.

August 1

This is what Cade did on Sunday.  Of course - the most perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon would be making Boba Fett's ship out of packing tape and white paper.  He requested pictures....and I acquiesced.

July 31

I've been playing for this musical in downtown Salt Lake City (soooo fun!) We have had tech week this last week, which means I had to drive to SLC every night Monday-Saturday.  It wouldn't be so bad if there  wasn't  the eternal contsruction going on.  Oh, and there was the night they closed down I-15 completely because some moron shot at a state trooper's car.  That was a fun night.  It was midnight and I was sitting on the freeway with no food and boring radio for two hours. BBC is okay, but Glen Beck makes me want to vomit after 20 minutes.  (Sorry if I offended anyone.....)
Anyhow - while I was out having fun at rehearsals, and not having fun driving.....my boys all went to a Baseball Game.  The saw the Ogden raptors which were not that thrilling to watch, but they had fun.  The best part?  When the Raptor mascot signed their hands.  I missed being with my boys, but I have to say I didn't miss being bored at a baseball game :)

July 30

Cade's 1st homework assignment.  An all about me paper that he put together.  So...all about Cade...money he loves money.  He wants a Ben Franklin 100 dollar bill someday, and he wants a Ben Franklin Half Dollar.  He might want to be a neumasmatist  s/p?  some day - and this kid can pronounce that word much better than I can.  He wants to go to Washington D.C. and see the Jefferson Memorial, and he wants to go to Mexico sometime.  He loves Mario, and DragonBall ( Even though he's never seen it my piano students love to pretend play it with him.)  He loves natural disasters and his family and his first Halloween costume as a Sumo Wrestle.  He also likes karate - all 4 days he's experienced of it :)  So now you know all about Cade - or all that he wants you to know.   He didn't mention the fact that he already does math better than me and is frequently spouting off complex math equations in his head when he is supposed to be clearing off his place or getting buckled in the car.  Case in point:  "Mom did you know that 5 plus 1 times 4 is 20?"  "Get Buckled."  "I know, but mom did you know that 90 and 90 and 90 is 180 ...and so that means in 4 and a half hours it will be time to have lunch?"  "Get buckled."  and soo forth....kid you not, the kid loves numbers.  I'm beginning to wonder if he is my kid at all!  The scary thing....I didn't teach him any of this number junk - no one did.  We told him about money and time, and he has spent hours calculating on his clock and playing with his money figuring out how it all fits together.  I'm thinking he might actually be able to do Calculus one day - he is going to pass his mom up,  but he's got a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to number crunch like dad.

July 29

Just one of my handsome funny boys.

July 28

Cade's great preschool class from last year.  Hard to believe that he has moved on!

July 27

This is Cade's choir group from last year.  Yes, I am grasping for pictures this week........I've been super busy, and so we are doing some backtrack pictures.

July 26

At the Planetarium Eric caught this picture of us standing against a wall.  He had to take another so you could see that we really do like each other, we just have to be reminded sometimes to act like it :)

July 25

We went to Science Saturday at the Ott Planetarium together on .......drumroll......on Saturday.  The theme was the Sounds of Science.  We had fun shooting air and making straw oboes and we got to see a show in the very very hot planetarium.  Cade is now fascinated by the constellations.
